You avoid hearing the entrancing song of the Sirens, and so escape a grisly death, since they lure unwary sailors onto the rocks and then devour them. Unfortunately, no-one can hear your orders with wax in their ears, and your crew steer onto some rocks, damaging the rudder.

The next day you approach a narrow sea passage where white water rages between two high cliffs. There is no way around, and you cannot turn back with a damaged rudder.
