We are going to tell you about Egyptian food

In Egyptian times, bread made from grain was the main food for ordinary people. They also drank beer made from grain, and even the children drank it, but it was not as strong as modern beer. Egyptians also ate a lot of vegetables, such as onions, cucumbers, leeks, beans, garlic and lettuce.

EGYPTIAN FEAST

For our Egyptian feast we prepared Nile salad, kidney bean salad, pitta bread,
yogurt, humus and grape juice wine.

Types of food

The ordinary Egyptians ate some fruit - grapes, dates, figs and pomegranates. Egyptian men hunted animals, while the women cooked the food and made bread. If you were a meat eater in Egyptian days you would have to eat beef. They even offered bull’s legs to the gods at the temple.

Bread was soaked in water which had been sweetened with dates. At banquet, rich Egyptians might have roast chicken, cheese and honey cake.

They ate lots of fish and used to go out on the River Nile to catch them. The Egyptians cooked on their roof tops and sometimes ate up there as well.
