If you want to find out about the exciting Egyptian gods, read on!

Ra

Ra was the god of the sun, and was in charge of all the gods.
Egyptians believed that he created the world.
He had a hawk's head, as you can see.

Once, when Ra cried, his tears
turned into a swarm of bees.

Tawaret

Tawaret was the goddess of pregnancy,
as you can guess from the picture.
She was shown as a pregnant hippo.

Ma'at

Ma'at was the goddess of law, order and truth. Ma'at means straight.

Sobek

Sobek was the god of the waters. He had the head
of a crocodile and the body of a human. The god of the
waters was part crocodile because the River Nile
was full of crocodiles.

Aker

This is Aker, the double-headed lion god and guardian of the beautiful sunrise and sunset. Between the lions is an Aker symbol which represents the horizon on which the sun rises or sets.

Nut

Nut was the goddess of the sky, and the daughter of Shu. The hieroglyph for her name is a water pot. The picture shows Nut's body covered with stars, and the god Geb relaxing beneath her.
