HILLFORTS

The map shows the location of the six hillforts on Cheshire's sandstone hills - they were used during the Iron Age, Bronze Age and earlier. Modern Chester and the Burwardsley Centre are also shown.

Not far south of Chester lies one of the best preserved hillforts in Britain - Old Oswestry.
